One TESLA, two GoCycle and a lot of fun to drive...
With its unusual design, modern technology and ultra-lightweight construction, the Gocycle is a real eye-catcher.
When two of them are pulled straight out of the trunk of a new TESLA, still folded up, they definitely attract everyone's attention.
That's no coincidence, because the concentrated know-how and attention to detail of Richard Thorpe, the former chief Formula 1 engineer at McLaren, has gone into this e-bike. His compact pedelec hides its batteries and all the power electronics in its carbon composite and hydroformed magnesium frame.
The GoCycle is now in its 4th generation and therefore goes by the name G4 as well as G4i and G4i+. The electric motor specially developed for the 4th generation immediately impresses with its particularly smooth starting behavior, whisper-quiet motor running and stronger starting torque.
The e-bike weighs just 16.6 kilograms, making it a real lightweight in this class.
With a hinge on each handlebar and frame, the GoCycle is folded in no time and can be stored in the car.
The pack size is approx.: 78 x 58 x 37 centimeters. So also a fine thing for people who go to work, for example, by train and the last kilometers by bike. For such a folding bike usually no extra ticket must be solved.
The battery has 375 Wh and can be pulled out of the frame for charging - but it does not have to. With a battery charge are usually always 65 kilometers in it, depending on the terrain and if you invest a little more own power even up to 80 kilometers. However, this lightweight bike is still easy to move even without an "auxiliary motor" like a normal bike purely mechanically - without any noticeable additional effort.
However, cycling on the Gocycle G4 is really fun with motor power, of course, which is brought directly and completely directly to the road with the front wheel hub motor. The desired level of assistance can be preselected via the GoCycle smartphone app and saved as individual riding profiles according to personal preferences. Depending on the route profile or mood, up to four settings can be called up at any time. Engine power at the front, muscle power at the rear wheel - virtually an all-wheel drive!
Your own cell phone can be attached to the handlebars and then provides information about speed, kilometers traveled, etc. It can also be easily recharged on the go via a USB-C interface on the handlebars.
The puncture-proof balloon tires from Vredestein have good grip even on rain-soaked asphalt and roll quietly. Three well-matched gears of the Gripshift-shifted hub gears ensure a pleasant individual cadence at all times. On the G4i and G4i+, the gearshift is even fully electronic. When stopped at a red light, the GoCycle automatically shifts back to first gear.
The standard Supernova mini-LED headlight is also ideal for lighting and riding in the dark. Who then still - as we - a Lumos bicycle helmet with Multi Impact Protection System as well as lighting front and rear, integrated brake light and direction indicators wears, is definitely no longer overlooked.
The sprung rear swingarm is formed by the hermetically sealed chain case and houses the - who would have thought it - fully encapsulated chain.
Your own pants, but also the velour-lined luggage compartment of the car, thus always remain grease-free. The front wheel is connected to the aluminum single-sided swingarm via the wheel hub motor.
The integrated hydraulic disc brakes grip front and rear powerfully, so that even driving in very hilly to mountainous terrain is possible without problems - so not only for Tuscany just right 😉
